Games open slower in VipMod than outside it: why, and how to cut the wait

A game in VipMod opens a few seconds slower than the same game outside it. That's the cost of building a separate space for it and loading the mod. But "a few seconds" and "half a minute" are two different things, and this guide is about the second one.

A slow first launch is normal

The first time a game opens after you install it, VipMod has to set up its space and create its starting data, and many games then download their own data from their servers. The very first game you open may also wait while VipMod downloads Google Play services, which games use to sign in with Google. All of that usually takes 10 to 30 seconds, so the launch worth timing is the second one.

The biggest time sink: waiting on the network

On real phones, the slowest part of a launch isn't VipMod but the game's own trips to the network for settings, ads and syncing. We've already changed VipMod to use what it has on hand when you open a game, instead of checking with our server every time. The rest belongs to the game.

The most effective fix is to switch off the Internet for that game, if it plays offline. On a slow phone, that alone can cut the launch time by more than half. Details and exceptions are in turning off the Internet for one game.

Four more things to try

  1. Free up RAM. VipMod carries its own copy of Google Play services so games can sign in with Google. On a phone that's short on memory, if you don't need Google sign-in, turn on Save RAM (low-end devices) in VipMod's settings: it skips Google Play services and saves about 140 MB, and games still open because the Google Play license check keeps working. Close other apps when opening a new one, in the same settings, frees memory as well.
  2. Turn off battery optimization for VipMod on Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and Realme phones. When VipMod is restricted in the background, it has to rebuild a game's space every time you open it instead of reusing it. The steps are on which phones can run VipMod.
  3. Switch off heavy mod items you're not using. A few items, such as speed-ups or ones that keep rewriting a value, run a check every few seconds. Turn them off when you don't need them and back on when you do; each switch remembers its setting.
  4. Drop the forced high refresh rate if your phone isn't a flagship. Highest refresh rate in Game tweaks asks for 90 or 120 Hz, which makes the first screen heavier and uses more battery.

Slow isn't the same as closing

If the game isn't slow but shuts down partway through playing, that's battery settings or RAM, covered on that same page about phones. If it closes right as it opens, that's a different problem with its own fixes.

How long is normal

On a mid-range phone, say a Snapdragon 6-series chip with 4 GB of RAM, a light 2D game in VipMod opens in 3 to 6 seconds from the second launch on, and a heavy 3D game takes 10 to 20. If yours takes much longer, work through the list above in order. Still slow? Message us with the game and your phone model, since that game may have something about it we haven't run into yet.
