Frequently asked questions

Why does tapping install on a game download VipMod?

Because that's how it's meant to work. The file you get is VipMod — a free app that acts as the installer and as the place the game runs. Install VipMod once, open it, and the game you tapped is already inside with its mod; tap install and play. The free mod features are switched on for you; the VIP features sit behind the MOD button inside the game, one switch each. This way you never have to find a mod that matches your game version yourself, and next time you just open the app instead of coming back to the website.

Do I need to root my phone?

No. No root, nothing to unlock, no computer needed. VipMod runs games in its own separate space, so the mod gets loaded without touching your phone's system. How to install it, including when Play Protect blocks it: Install VipMod on Android.

Which Android phones can run it?

Android 7.0 or later with a 64-bit chip. On older phones VipMod won't install, and that's a limit of the virtual space that runs the games, not of any single game. Details on RAM, 32-bit phones and emulators: Which phones can run VipMod.

How do the mods work, and is the game file changed?

There are two cases, and each game's page tells you which one applies before you tap install:

  • Games that run inside VipMod — the mod is loaded when the game starts and is made for each version of the game. This is most of the store.
  • Games installed directly on your phone — for competitive games whose anti-cheat blocks virtual spaces. VipMod downloads the original and installs it untouched, no mod.

Before it goes in the store, every game is installed on a real phone, played, and every item in its MOD menu is tried. An item that's currently broken is still listed, with a warning, in the mod features panel, because hiding it would only leave you to find out the hard way.

Does installing in VipMod affect the original game on my phone?

No. The copy in VipMod and the one you got from Google Play are two separate installs with separate data, and you can play both side by side. Delete the one in VipMod and the original, with all its progress, stays as it was.

Does it cost anything?

Browsing the store and downloading VipMod are free. The free tier limits how many games you can install per period, how many devices you can use, and covers the basic mod features; VIP plans add more installs, more devices and every mod feature. Renewing a plan refills your installs, and reinstalling a game you've installed before never uses one. Plans, durations and prices are in the VipMod app, paid in US dollars by the methods shown at checkout — we don't print prices here, so you never read an outdated figure.

Do I need an account?

Not for the free tier — just download VipMod and play. You only need an account to buy a plan, use your plan on another device, or message us; and accounts are created in the app, the website has no sign-up form at all.

Can playing modded online games get my game account banned?

It can, and we make no promises here. A mod changes how a game runs, so for online games it usually goes against that game publisher's terms, and your game account is theirs to deal with. Games whose anti-cheat rejects VipMod's virtual space install directly on your phone without a mod, but some online games you play against other people do come with mods: each game's page lists exactly what its mod changes, and you use it at your own risk. If you want to be sure your game account is safe, pick offline games.

The game just updated and the mod does nothing?

Mods are made for each version of a game, so when a game ships a new version before its mod is ready, VipMod doesn't load the old mod — the wrong version makes the game crash on its first screen. The game still plays normally, just without the mod for now. Message us in the app to find out how the new one is coming along. If a mod is switched on and nothing changes for some other reason, tell us in the app which game it is and what you see.

The game I want isn't in the store. What now?

Ask for it. Open VipMod, go to Support → Request mod and tell us the game's name. It's a two-way conversation, so you read the reply right in the app. Bug reports are unlimited; and if you want a mod right now for a game that's already on your phone, use DIY Mod: you describe what you want, an AI working with a real test device does it, and you pay in diamonds.

Why so few games?

On purpose. Any store can pump itself up to a few thousand titles by copying a list, but then nobody has time to try any of them. We went the other way: fewer games, but every one of them was opened and played by someone before you. What that process involves: How we test.
