Install VipMod on Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo: what each phone asks

Install VipMod on Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo: what each phone asks

Installing VipMod takes the same three steps on every phone, and they're laid out on the install guide. What changes from brand to brand is the pop-ups that get in between. Below is what you'll see on the most common phones, in the order the boxes show up, plus what to change right after installing on the brands that need it.

Samsung (One UI)

  1. Open the file from the notification bar or your browser's Downloads. One UI says "For your security, your phone is not allowed to install unknown apps from this source." Tap Settings. That button only opens a settings page, it doesn't install anything yet.
  2. Turn on Allow from this source, then go back.
  3. The install box appears, so tap Install. If Play Protect steps in, tap More details, then Install anyway.

Samsung adds one more layer on One UI 6 and later, called Auto Blocker. When it's on, the phone blocks anything that doesn't come from Google Play or the Galaxy Store instead of asking you. Turn it off at Settings → Security and privacy → Auto Blocker, install VipMod, and switch it back on afterward if you want it. Just keep in mind that Auto Blocker also stops VipMod from updating itself. When that happens, the app shows an Open Auto Blocker button, so you can turn it off for a moment, tap Install and turn it on again.

Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO (MIUI and HyperOS)

  1. Open the file. MIUI sometimes scans it before the install box appears, so give it a few seconds.
  2. If a message says installing from unknown sources isn't allowed, tap Settings, allow your browser and go back.
  3. Tap Install. Some HyperOS versions add one more screen with a dimmed button and a countdown of about ten seconds before you can tap it. That's deliberate, and the phone hasn't frozen.

Change one thing right after the install, because Xiaomi is quick to close apps in the background. Go to Settings → Apps → Manage apps → VipMod, set Battery saver to No restrictions and turn on Autostart. If you skip this, games in VipMod tend to close whenever you switch to another app. The full fix for each brand is in this guide.

Oppo, Realme and OnePlus (ColorOS)

  1. Open the file. ColorOS warns that installing apps from unknown sources may put your phone at risk. Tap Settings and allow your browser. If that button is missing or grayed out, go to Settings → Security → Install apps from unknown sources and turn it on for your browser from there.
  2. Tap Install. ColorOS sometimes asks for your lock screen password first, so enter the PIN or pattern you unlock your phone with.

After the install, go to Settings → Apps → App management → VipMod → Battery usage and turn on Allow background activity.

Vivo (Funtouch OS and OriginOS)

  1. Open the file. Vivo shows a box saying the installation was blocked. Tap Settings and allow your browser to install unknown apps.
  2. Vivo often runs its own security check before installing, so pick the option that continues the installation.

After the install, go to Settings → Battery → Background power consumption management, find VipMod and allow it. On older versions the same switch lives in i Manager.

Google Pixel, Motorola and other near-stock phones

These have the fewest pop-ups. Open the file, turn on Allow from this source, then tap Install, and if Play Protect blocks it, tap More details → Install anyway. There's no extra battery manager on top, so there's nothing else to change.

If the phone does nothing at all

Usually the download hadn't finished yet, or you opened the file from a file manager app that isn't allowed to install apps. Open it again from the browser that downloaded it, through that browser's Downloads list, and the right question should pop up. If it still won't budge, the install guide lists where each brand keeps the install permission, so you can turn it on by hand.

One last thing tends to catch people out a few days later. The first time VipMod updates itself, Android asks whether VipMod may install apps. Allow it the same way you did for your browser, or the update can't go in.
