What the mod adds when you play in VipMod
-
Unlock Menu Mode
Normally the game only opens Menu Mode after you've reached five endings. Turn this on in the floating MOD menu, start an act, and a red M button is already in the middle of the screen. Tap it for the game's own panel: spawn items such as a hammer or keys (ITEMS), change your run speed, jump height and size (PLAYER), give Mom, Dad and the others an order like Cook Dinner or Check Player (NPC), move characters and objects (TRANSFORM), plus a game-speed slider.
Requires VipMod VIP1. It kicks in from the next act you start. The game saves Menu Mode, so switching this off won't remove it: type menu mode off on the computer in your room while the switch is still on, then turn it off. The phone version has no fly or noclip in Menu Mode.

Parents can't see you
Mom and Dad can't spot you outside your room. With it off, Dad caught us within three seconds of stepping out and handed out squats. With it on, we stood in the hallway by the door: Mom found the room empty, searched the closets, walked right past us and went back to what she was doing, with no chase and no punishment. Switch it on or off in the floating MOD menu at any time.
Requires VipMod VIP1. So far it has only been tried standing in the hallway inside the house, not while making noise or in the Outdoors and Horror acts.
-
Offline play
Cuts the game off from the internet. It's on by default in the floating MOD menu, and with it on we could still start acts, open Menu Mode and get hints from the light bulb.
Switch it off and reopen the game if you want it to go online again.
-
No ads
Stops the full-screen ad the game plays every time you start an act. Without it we got a playable ad with no close button that ran for over a minute; with it on, the act started straight away. On by default in the floating MOD menu, and switching it takes effect right away.
The game has no banner ads. The reward video behind the hint bulb has its own switch, Hints without ads.
-
Hints without ads
Tap the light bulb in the top-left corner and the yellow hint arrow appears at once, with no reward video first. Without it, only your first hint is free and every one after that plays a video. On by default in the floating MOD menu, and it works with Offline play on too.
Only the hint bulb has been tried. The button that skips a whole puzzle never came up in our runs, so we can't promise it's covered.

About this game
SchoolBoy Runaway puts you behind the eyes of a boy who came home with a bad grade, and now his parents won't let him out of the house. The whole game is about sneaking past Mom and Dad, picking up the right items and finding a way outside without getting caught.
The first thing that stopped me wasn't either parent, though. I picked Act 1 on Normal, pressed start, and a full-screen ad for another app took over before the house even appeared. There was no close button anywhere on it, and more than a minute went by before the game finally let me in.
That ad comes back every time you start an act, and ads are the only way this free game earns anything. So I played it through VipMod with the five switches in its MOD menu: No ads, Hints without ads, Offline play, Unlock Menu Mode and Parents can't see you. Here's how a run goes, where the game slows you down and what each switch did once I left my room.
Grounded for a bad grade, with Mom and Dad on patrol
An act starts at your desk with a math textbook lying open in front of you, which is exactly where your parents want you to stay. Your bedroom is the safe spot, and the trouble starts the moment you step out into the hallway.
Mom and Dad aren't just standing around waiting for you, either. Mom cooks, waters the plants and stops by now and then to check on your room, while Dad watches soccer on TV or talks on his phone. Learning those routines is most of the game, because each one opens a short window to move.
If either of them spots you outside your room, they come after you, and they're quicker than you'd expect. Getting caught earns you a punishment like doing squats or sweeping the yard, and on Normal you only get three attempts.
Along the way you pick up items and work through small puzzles that clear a path out, and whatever you carry sits in six slots along the bottom of the screen. If you're stuck, a light bulb in the top left corner gives you a hint in the form of a yellow arrow pointing the way.
Three attempts, and every noise gets noticed
Before you start, the main menu spells out what the difficulty you picked actually means. On Normal, it says your parents sometimes check on you, Mom sometimes looks through more than one room, and both of them come toward a noise after three seconds.
The last line on that list says they walk calmly toward the noise, and that's the rule I'd keep in mind. A sound doesn't bring them running the instant it happens, so you have a few seconds to get out of sight before somebody comes to look.
There are other difficulty levels besides Normal, but Normal was the one I played, and it was strict enough that a careless step out of the room got punished almost right away. I'd start there before trying anything harder.
Three acts, eight endings and a secret on the computer
The main menu lists three acts. Act 1 is called Escape, Act 2 is Outdoors and Act 3 is Horror, and across all three the game has eight different endings to find.
Those endings lead to the best thing in the game, which is Menu Mode. Once you've reached five of them, you can go to the computer in your room, type menu mode on, and a red M button shows up in the middle of the screen.
Tapping the M opens a panel with four tabs and a speed slider down the side. ITEMS lets you spawn things like a hammer, keys, a light bulb or a piece of raw meat, PLAYER changes your run speed, jump height and size, NPC lets you give Mom and Dad orders, and TRANSFORM moves people and objects around the house.
It's a fun reward, but it's a long way off. Five endings means playing the same acts again and again, and every one of those runs starts with an ad, which is why so many people go looking for a mod menu instead.
An ad before every act, and nothing to buy
Nothing in this game costs real money. There are no coins to buy and no paid way to switch the ads off, so the ads are how it pays for itself, and it leans on them hard.
The big one plays every time you start an act. It's a playable ad that fills the whole screen with no close button, and the one I got kept me waiting for over a minute before the house showed up behind it.
The hint bulb works the same way. Your first hint is free, but after that every tap on the bulb plays a reward video first, and that adds up quickly when one puzzle has you going around the same rooms.
For a game that's built around waiting for the right moment, all that extra waiting on ads gets old fast. The stealth itself is fair, so the ads end up being the part that tests your patience the most.
Five switches behind the red VIP badge
In VipMod, a red VIP badge sits in the top left corner just under the hint bulb, and tapping it opens the MOD menu. Offline play, No ads and Hints without ads are free, while Unlock Menu Mode and Parents can't see you need VIP 1.
No ads is the one I'd leave on all the time. With it off, the playable ad showed up as the act loaded, and with it on, I went straight from the main menu to the textbook on my desk without waiting at all.
Hints without ads does the same job for the bulb. With the switch on, the yellow arrow appeared the moment I tapped it, and with it off, the reward video came back. I never ran into the button that skips a whole puzzle, so I can't tell you whether that one is covered.
Unlock Menu Mode is the switch most people will come for. Turn it on, start an act, and the red M is already waiting in the middle of the screen without a single ending finished, so the whole panel is yours from the first run.
Parents can't see you changes how the house feels. With it off, Dad caught me within three seconds of leaving my room and had me doing squats. With it on, I stood in the hallway right by my door, and Mom came to check on me, found the room empty and started searching.
Offline play comes switched on and cuts the game off from the internet. With it on, I could still start acts, open Menu Mode and get hints from the bulb. You don't need to root your phone, and the copy of the game you got from Google Play stays as it is. A few things to know up front:
- The game remembers Menu Mode once it's on, and flipping the switch off won't make it go away. If you want it gone, type menu mode off at the computer in your room while the switch is still on.
- Menu Mode on phones has no fly or noclip option. Those are part of the PC version, so don't expect to float through walls here.
- I only tried Parents can't see you while standing in the hallway outside my room, so I can't say how it handles noise or the Outdoors and Horror acts.
Watching Mom walk right past me
The moment that sold me on the stealth switch came a few seconds after I stepped out. Mom looked into my room, saw it was empty and called out, "Gena! Come here, our son has disappeared." Then she started checking the closets for me.
At one point she walked right in front of me, close enough to fill the whole screen, and asked, "Tell me, where you're hiding." I was standing in plain sight the entire time, and once the search was over she simply went back to what she'd been doing.
It's funny the first time, and it shows how much of the game rests on those two characters. Their routines, the lines they say and the way they search the house are the best part of it, and with the switch on you get to watch all of that without being sent off to do squats.
The downside is the one any invisibility trick has. Once nobody can catch you, the tension of timing every step goes away, so I'd leave it off while learning an act and only turn it on when one stretch keeps beating you.
Menu Mode is more of a toy box. Spawning a hammer from the ITEMS tab or telling Mom to go cook dinner is a fun way to mess around, though I'd still play each act the normal way first so the house keeps a few surprises.
The house itself looks simple but cozy, with wooden walls, a red sofa and sunlight across the floor, and the main menu opens on a sunny street with a white picket fence. It isn't a detailed game, but it doesn't need to be for this kind of hiding.
English only, and it runs without the internet
The game is in English only, and it stayed in English even on a phone set to another language. There isn't much to read besides the menus and the lines your parents say, which show up as text at the top of the screen, so younger players can follow it easily.
With Offline play on, the game had no connection at all, and the acts, Menu Mode and the hint bulb all kept working. I didn't switch the phone itself to airplane mode, though, so that's the one setup I can't vouch for.
On Google Play in the US, it holds 3.9 stars from about 559,000 ratings and has passed 50 million downloads. It's rated Teen, and its latest update arrived on August 24, 2026.
So who should try sneaking out of this house
If you like hide-and-sneak games such as Granny or Hello Neighbor but want something lighter, at least in the first act, this is a good fit. The danger here is a pair of strict parents and a round of squats, which makes it easy for younger players to enjoy.
And if the ad before every act is wearing you down, or you've seen Menu Mode somewhere and don't want to chase five endings first, the mod takes care of both. Leave No ads on, open Menu Mode when you feel like playing around, and save the parents switch for the parts that keep catching you.
