Mod features

What the mod adds when you play in VipMod

  • Granny can't catch you

Turn it on in the floating MOD menu and Granny's bat can't knock you out, so you don't lose a day. We left the bedroom door open: she walked up, stopped in the doorway with her bat raised, and two and a half minutes later it was still Day 1. Back away and she doesn't follow.

Requires VipMod VIP1. After the first blocked hit Granny freezes where she stands for the rest of that game, even if you turn the switch off; start a new game to have her hunt you again. It only stops Granny herself: the spider, traps and falls haven't been tried with it. Only works while playing inside VipMod.

  • Freeze Granny

Turn it on in the floating MOD menu and Granny stays put: no patrolling, no chasing and no knock-outs, even with the bedroom door wide open. In three tries lasting 3 to 5.4 minutes she never caught us. Switch it off and she hunts again: she caught us within 30 seconds one time and after 1:50 another.

Requires VipMod VIP1. Switching it on while Granny is already swinging doesn't save you from that hit, so you still lose the day. Only works while playing inside VipMod.

  • Offline play

Cuts the game off from the internet. It's on by default in the floating MOD menu, and every run we played had it switched on, one to three in-game days at a time, with Granny, the house and the day counter all working as usual.

Switch it off if you want the game to go online.

  • No ads

Stops the full-screen ad the game shows between days, much like the game's $2.99 Remove Ads purchase. Without it an ad came up as Day 3 began; with it on, Day 3 started straight away. On by default in the floating MOD menu, and switching it takes effect right away: turned off mid-run, the ad was back at Day 4.

Granny has no reward videos, so turning ads off costs you nothing.

About this game

Granny drops you into a bedroom in an old house and gives you five days to get out. The front door is the only way out, and the things that open it are scattered around the house: a hammer, a key, a pair of pliers, a piece of a picture and more. The old woman who owns the place walks the halls with a bat, and she listens for every sound you make.

What made me stop was how fast my first day ended. I was still in the bedroom where I'd woken up when she pushed the door open, walked in with her bat raised, and the screen went red. I came to on Day 2, one day gone out of five, and I hadn't even made it out of the room.

It wasn't bad luck either, because every time she got within reach, at least eight times in a row, the hit landed and another day was gone. So I played it through VipMod with the four switches in its MOD menu: Granny can't catch you, Freeze Granny, No ads and Offline play. Here's how a day goes, what the game asks you to pay for, and what each switch did when she came through that door.

Five days, one front door and an old woman with a bat

Every run starts the same way. You wake up on Day 1 in a small bedroom with peeling wallpaper, a bed, a round wooden table and a window, and a wooden door stands between you and the rest of the house.

The goal is simple to say and hard to pull off. You search the rooms for the tools and odd items that open the front door, and each one you find gets you a little closer to walking out of there for good.

She's what makes it hard. She walks the house on her own and listens for noise, so the sounds you make while searching can bring her straight to you. If she reaches you, she knocks you out and you wake up on the next day.

Five days means you can afford four mistakes. Get caught on Day 5 and the run is over, and the next time you press Play you're back in that bedroom on Day 1 with everything to do again.

Darker, Limping, Extra locks and four free themes

Before a run, the Options screen lets you decide how mean the house should be. Difficulty sits on the left, and on Normal the game tells you there's an opportunity to get a bonus day, which is a welcome cushion when five already feels tight.

Next to it are four checkboxes called Darker, Extra locks, Limping and Music, plus a Quality setting that I left on High. I kept the first three off, so I can't tell you how much harder they make things, but they're there for when the normal house stops scaring you.

The Game Theme menu switches the whole house between Default, Halloween, Christmas and Nightmare, and none of them cost anything. I liked that, because a game with this many players could easily have turned every one of those themes into something to sell.

No coins, no shop, just you and the house

There's no currency in this game at all. You don't earn coins for surviving a day, there's no character to level up and no store full of upgrades, and nothing carries over from one run to the next except what you remember about the house.

The only thing that tracks your progress is a set of Google Play Games achievements. If you need a bar filling up or a reward screen to keep you coming back, you won't find it here, and that's worth knowing before you start.

To be fair, that's also why it works. With nothing to grind, every run is about the same question, which is whether you can get through that front door before the fifth day runs out.

$2.99 to make the ads stop, and that's all it sells

With no shop, the game has exactly one thing to sell. A small Remove Ads button sits in the bottom right corner of the main menu, and on Google Play in the US it costs $2.99. There's no starter pack, no extra days and nothing else to buy.

So the ads are where the free version gets you. The game shows a full-screen ad as you move into Day 3, Day 4 and Day 5, and again when you lose or escape. A run that lasts all five days and ends in a loss can mean four of them, each landing right as a new day begins.

The first one I got, at the start of Day 3, was an ad for another app with no close button anywhere on it. I sat looking at it for more than four minutes waiting to be let back into the house, and by then whatever tension the game had built up was long gone.

What the game really runs on, though, is time. Every catch costs a full day, and a day is the one thing you can't buy back here, not even for $2.99. That's what makes her so frightening, and it's also why one bad moment on Day 1 can sour a whole run.

Four switches behind the red VIP badge

In VipMod, a red VIP badge sits on the left edge of the screen, and tapping it opens the MOD menu. Offline play and No ads come switched on already and are free, while Granny can't catch you and Freeze Granny both need VIP 1.

I started with Granny can't catch you. I turned it on, left the bedroom door open and waited. She came, stopped right in the doorway and raised her bat, and nothing happened. Two and a half minutes later it was still Day 1, and when I backed away she didn't follow me.

Then I found the catch. I switched it off to see whether she'd start hunting again, and she didn't move. She stood in that doorway for another two minutes, and she stays like that until the run ends. Starting a new game is what brings her back to life.

Freeze Granny works differently. In a fresh game, with the switch on and the bedroom door wide open, I waited three separate times, for three minutes, then almost four, then almost five and a half. She didn't catch me once.

Turn it off and she goes back to work quickly. One time she got me within 30 seconds of the switch going off, and another time it took her a minute and fifty seconds, which was long enough for me to start hoping.

No ads did exactly what it says. With it off, an ad came up between Day 2 and Day 3. With it on, the black Day 3 screen came up and I was straight back in the house, and when I switched it off in the middle of a run, the ad returned at the start of Day 4.

Offline play stayed on for every run I played, one to three days at a time, and the house, the old woman and the day counter all behaved as usual. You don't need to root your phone, and the copy of the game you got from Google Play stays where it is. A few things to know up front:

  • Granny can't catch you is about her bat and nothing else. I never tried it against the spider, the traps or a long fall, so treat those as dangers that still count.
  • Once it blocks her first swing, she's rooted to that spot for the rest of the run whether the switch is on or off, so start a new game if you want the chase back.
  • Freeze can't stop a hit that's already coming. If you flip it on while she's mid-swing, that one still lands and the day is gone.

What it feels like when she can't touch you

The game is at its best in the seconds before she shows up. Sitting in that bedroom with the door open, watching the gap for a white nightgown, was tense even when I knew the switch was on, and that says a lot about how well the setup works.

She looks the part, too. She's a bald old woman in a long white nightgown, carrying a bat with a red stain near the end, in a house of peeling wallpaper and bare wooden boards. The game first came out in 2017 and the textures show their age, but the dim light covers most of that.

The downside is that both VIP switches take the fear out once they're on. With Freeze running she's a statue, and after the other switch blocks her first swing she's a statue anyway, so the chase that makes this game what it is simply stops.

My advice is to leave them off until a run starts going badly, then turn on Freeze when you need room to breathe and switch it off again when you're ready. Played that way, the mod feels more like a pause button for her than a cheat.

Either way, you still have to find every item and open every lock yourself, because nothing in the MOD menu touches the house. The puzzle stays exactly as hard as the game made it, which is the part I'd want to keep anyway.

English only, and fine without a connection

The game is in English only, so there's no language setting to look for. There isn't much text to read in any case, mostly the menus, the Options screen and the day screens, so it hardly gets in the way for anyone.

With Offline play on, the game had no internet at all, and I played up to three days in a row that way without anything breaking. That makes it a decent pick for a flight, a long commute or anywhere else the signal tends to drop out on you.

On Google Play in the US it holds 4.3 stars from about 4.4 million ratings and has passed 500 million downloads. It's rated Teen, it first came out in November 2017, and its latest update arrived on June 6, 2026.

So who should spend five days in her house

If you like horror that comes from waiting rather than shooting, this is still one of the purest versions of it. There's one house, one old woman and five days, and every sound you make while searching might bring her to the door.

And if she keeps catching you before you've found your footing, or the ads between days are wearing you down, the mod takes the edge off without solving anything for you. Leave No ads on, keep Freeze for the bad moments, and the front door is still yours to figure out.
