Battle speed-up
Turn on the switch in the MOD menu, then drag the 'Speed level' slider from 1 up to 8. The battle pace is multiplied by exactly that much: monsters walk faster, archers shoot faster, and the end-of-stage boss falls sooner. A stage that takes about half a minute without it takes under six seconds at level 4, and at level 8 stage 15 was over in less than four seconds. Moving the slider takes effect immediately, no restart needed.
This shortens the time it takes to fight a stage; it doesn't multiply the rewards the out-of-battle idle timer gives you: at level 4, the out-of-battle Gold rate is exactly the same as with the mod off. The speed also applies to interface animations, so menus speed up too. The level you pick is the level you get: measured on a slow emulator (the arm64 build running through a translation layer), it came out at 4.00x at level 4, 6.00x at level 6 and 8.01x at level 8, and the frame rate at level 8 matched level 1 (about 45 frames per second, no extra stutter).

Block network (offline play)
Blocks every connection for this game only; turn it on and restart the game for it to take effect. The game goes straight to the main hall without waiting on the network, and a full Battlefield stage ran normally with this switch on.
The switch only takes effect after a game restart; turning it on midway does nothing. It blocks most traffic but not all of it: on an emulator a few connections to Google and Facebook still got through, so don't treat it as a way to hide from the server. While it's on, the Link account button in Settings does nothing, so if you want to tie your progress to an account to move to another phone, turn this off first. The game's Ad Shop is already broken inside VipMod: every watch-ad-for-reward slot stays silent when tapped, mod or no mod, so the game's source of seals and scrolls stays locked.

About this game
I opened Idle Kingdom Defense with fairly low expectations: a tower defense game to switch on while waiting for something and then close, nothing I planned to stick with. The first fifteen stages went by just that gently, and I almost forgot that every game eventually has a place where it sells you things.
Here that place is called the Ad Shop, sitting right on the main hall's status bar. Inside, the game lays out 26,460 Gold, 18,864 Spirit Stones, several kinds of seals for summoning heroes and even gear upgrade scrolls, each available five times a day.
The price of each one is a video ad. I tapped the Gold slot, waited, and absolutely nothing appeared. That's when I understood the game's whole economy is built around that tap, not around you fighting stages.
A defense stage here is as short as a single round
Every stage is laid out in a way that's easy to read. Your castle wall is on the left, and monsters march in a line from the right edge. On top of the wall, a few archers loose arrows on their own without you giving any orders. Your job is to time the skills of the heroes standing on the wall.
Anything that slips through the arrows smashes straight into the wall, and the castle's HP bar in the top-left corner drops with every blow. Run out of HP and you lose and have to replay the stage from the start, but the game doesn't take lives or attempts, so the pressure is fairly light.
Every stage ends with a boss whose own HP bar runs across the top of the screen. Take it down and the stage is over, the reward panel pops open with EXP, Gold, Spirit Stones and a few materials, and you tap on to the next stage. That loop repeats hundreds of times.
Heroes stand on the wall, but you fire their skills yourself
Heroes don't just appear; you have to collect enough Hero Shards and then summon them from the catalogue. My first was Ellie, a common-grade support archer. Her skill fires five magic arrows into an area you pick yourself by tapping the battlefield.
Once summoned, you still have to open the lineup and place the hero in an empty slot on the wall. Skip that and the hero stays home, and you go into battle with just the archers. The number of wall slots isn't fixed either; more open up as the castle levels up.
Each hero has a level cap of 200, six gear slots of their own, and a grade scale running from C up to S. When I looked through the catalogue, the S row alone had thirteen heroes, each needing a full 100 shards to summon. That's a goal for the whole year, not the first week.
The kingdom opens up stage milestone by stage milestone
The main hall is a kingdom map full of locked buildings, and every padlock says exactly which stage opens it. The Fountain and the Blacksmith open at stage 15, the General Shop at stage 10, the Main Sewer at stage 60, the King's Ruins at stage 80, and Total War not until stage 400.
This layout means you can always see something just out of reach, which is exactly why people keep tapping for one more stage. The castle is the building you'll touch most, since each level adds wall HP, adds archer damage and opens another hero slot.
The Fountain is where you pull for heroes and gear, while the Blacksmith lets you merge duplicate items into better ones for 500 Gold a time. The General Shop shows a row of goods that refreshes about every eighteen hours, where 1,000 Gold buys 6,768 Spirit Stones.
Between stages, an idle timer runs outside battle, slowly adding EXP, Gold and Spirit Stones even after you've closed the game. I left my phone alone for a while, it piled up nearly two hours, and one tap of the Claim button poured more than twenty thousand Gold straight into my wallet.
The Ad Shop is where the game hands out the real money
If you only fight stages, money comes in very slowly. At stage 4, the idle timer gave me about 336 Gold over a little more than two minutes, while one level-up for a level-10 hero already ate 145 Gold plus 290 Spirit Stones.
Meanwhile, one ad in the Ad Shop pays a flat 26,460 Gold, and five a day add up to more than 132,000. The gap is so big that every other source becomes a side dish. Hero seals, gear seals, upgrade stones and enhancement scrolls all sit behind that same tap.
The game sells the shortcut openly, too. The Remove Ad Packs pack at $14.99 turns that whole panel into a single Claim All button that pays out instantly. Rubies come in six tiers, from $1.99 for 180 up to $99.99 for 14,000.
What annoyed me most was weapon enhancement. The first four scrolls reliably took my bow from 12 to 36 damage. But from the next step the game switches to a 60 percent chance, and a failure knocks the bow back down a level.
Inside VipMod, that ad tap is shut off completely
This is where I have to be straight with you before you download. When you play this game inside VipMod, every watch-ad-for-reward slot stays dead. Tap the Gold or Spirit Stone slot and the screen just sits there: no video, no reward, not even a message.
It sounds like a loss, but in practice the game falls back to its core: fight stages and spend what those stages earn you. The downside is that seals and scrolls nearly dry up, so the hero-pulling and gear-enhancement systems slow down a lot.
The mod removes the time bottleneck
The MOD menu here has just two rows, and the one worth having is Battle speed-up, with a slider running from 1 to 8. Drag it and the battle pace is multiplied by exactly that much with no restart, and you immediately see both monsters and arrows speeding up.
Here's what my stopwatch said. With the mod off, stage 6 took about fifteen to thirty seconds. At level 4, the harder stage 7 was over in under six seconds. At level 8, stage 15 finished before I could even take a screenshot of the fight.
More important than the numbers is whether that Gold can really be spent, so I went shopping right away. I traded 10,000 Gold for five of Ellie's Hero Shards in the General Shop; my wallet dropped from exactly 48,801 to 38,801 and all five shards arrived.
Then I raised the castle from level 20 to level 32, and the wallet dropped another 4,140 Gold. Wall HP jumped from 3,350 to 5,150, and I gained one more archer. After reopening the game once more, both the wallet and the castle level were exactly as I'd left them; no pretty numbers that vanish after a while.
There's one point to know up front so your expectations are right. The speed slider shortens how long stages take; it doesn't multiply the rewards of the idle timer running outside battle. If you plan to turn the mod on and leave the phone sitting all afternoon, you'll collect almost exactly the same Gold.
The second row in the menu is Block network, which cuts all of this game's connections and needs a restart to take effect. I turned it on and played through stage 10 completely normally; the only catch is that the account-link button in Settings does nothing for as long as the switch is on.
How it plays, and who should download it
What I like most is how much the game respects your time in the way it runs. There's no forced login, no request for a phone number, and with the network cut off completely you can still fight stages and upgrade as normal.
What I'd criticize is the opening tutorial, which is both long and far too hand-holding. It blocks almost every button outside its script for the first few dozen minutes, and every time a new building opens up it comes back to walk you around once again.
On the app store the game has 4.7 stars from more than 276,000 ratings and over 5 million downloads, and I find those numbers fair. It's a solidly made game with good-enough graphics, light on your phone, and upfront about what it sells.
If you want a tower defense game to nibble at a few rounds a day, the original is already enough. But if you gave up because every stage dragged on while the rewards trickled in, the speed slider is exactly what removes the thing that stopped you.
